When a prime hard bottom location has been spotted keep on the lookout for large fish pushing and even fish bumping into sparse saw grasses that may be protruding from the bank. My favorite place to fish for redfish is the Mosquito Lagoon. The Indian River Lagoon system, which includes the Mosquito Lagoon, is the only place where redfish live their entire lives inshore. Got to LOVE it!!! Almost every well placed offering will immediately get eaten. The most sought after fish species by clients visiting central Florida is the redfish.

The simplest method to catch redfish involves putting chunks of cut bait such as mullet, pinfish, or ladyfish on a hook and letting it sit still on the bottom.

On some occasions, a better chance of success can be had fishing for them in the Indian or Banana Rivers. See some tailing action in this redfish video. Shortly after the Labor Day weekend, there is typically a break in the weather and daily temperatures back off from the triple digit heat indexes of summer. Check out the fishing tackle I use here. On the contrary if you pole or troll into a creek and find nothing but dirty muddy water on the surface this is a key indicator that your cove is loaded with stagnant, nonoxygenated water.

Encountering these schools can quickly result in double hookups. While it is possible to catch fish while wading, it is not necessary as I will be pushing the boat into the shallow waters getting close enough for you to make the cast.

The one fishery that will dramatically soar is the tailing redfish. So if you are tailingg for one more warm up before the Silver King arrives in May, sight fishing for tailing Redfish may be right up your alley.

Just be certain that the footing is a hard-packed sand and mud combination. My favorite place to fish for redfish is the Mosquito Lagoon.

Redfish will eat a wide variety of gedfish, baits, artificial lures, and flies. The fall run of king mackerel occurs when the water temperature drops down to the 70 degree mark.

Ideally you should select a bait rig, lure or fly pattern that will present its self with as minimal amount of splash as possible. Some schools may have 10 fish while others can have over Redfish love feeding on the mud minnows that call these sparse grasses home and it is not uncommon on a slick day to find tails swaying amongst the grass beds off of Homosassa and Crystal River.
